In November, Weizmann Australia organised a special ‘week of discovery’ in Israel for a group of Australian women, focusing on innovations in arts and science. The week included vivid experiences of cultural, culinary and artistic innovation in Tel Aviv, as well as a two day sojourn to the Negev Desert. The final and most captivating part of the trip was three days spent at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot.
Accompanying the group was Weizmann Australia’s Executive Director, Rina Michael, who worked with counterparts in Israel to organise this fascinating week.
“It was a busy and highly rewarding trip, where the group got the chance to meet leading scientific and cultural voices in Israel,” said Rina.
“We enjoyed visits not only to our wonderful Institute, but to places like the Tel Aviv Museum; the burial place of David Ben Gurion overlooking the breath-taking Ramon Crater; selected design and art studios; architectural places of interest; Israel theatre at its best – just to name a few,” she said.
The trip was the first such journey to be undertaken by Weizmann Australia and the hope is that it will be repeated on an annual or biennial basis. Have a look at the itinerary here and enjoy some of the photos featured in the gallery below.
A very big and warm thank you to all the women who came along to learn more about Israel’s art and culture, and the important work of the Weizmann Institute of Science. Special thanks also go to those who made it all happen, particularly Judy Garb Weiss who had the vision to make it a reality.
